How much does a website cost in 2026? Real prices and what you get for them

“How much does a website cost?” Most web studios answer with a round “from €299”, and then the quote arrives with a very different total. I do it the other way round. Below are my real prices for the three most common kinds of website, what each one includes, and when the price goes up.

What the price is made of

Every website price is the sum of four things. If a quote doesn’t say where those four go, ask.

  • Design. How much work goes into making the site look like your business, not like the same template a thousand others use.
  • Development. Building the site, forms, speed, and making sure everything works as well on a phone as on a laptop.
  • Content. Text and images. If you already have them, the work goes faster. If not, that’s separate work whose price should be agreed up front.
  • Maintenance. What happens after launch: updates, backups, and someone who answers when something breaks.

Business card: €100

One page with everything important: who you are, what you offer, how to reach you and where you are. Design and code, mobile-friendly and fast, contacts and a map, and ready for Google. Done in 1–2 days. The right fit when you need to get online fast and properly, and don’t need subpages yet.

Site + admin: €320–800

1–7 subpages or a custom build, with a simple admin where you edit texts, images and services yourself. A backup is made before every save, there are no plugins and no monthly fee, and the site stays fast. Done in 2–7 days. The price depends on the number of subpages and how much customisation you need. For most small businesses, this is the one.

WordPress or online store: €530–1,340

When you need the WordPress ecosystem, WooCommerce or Shopify: bank links, parcel lockers, product import and a how-to page for running the store yourself. Done in 4–10 days. The range comes mostly from the number of products, the payment and shipping setup, and whether product data has to be imported from somewhere.

What makes the price go up

  • Extra pages. Each page beyond the package is €65.
  • Later changes. If you want something changed after launch and don’t do it yourself in the admin, it’s €30/h, since you’re already a client. Other development work is €60/h.
  • Copy. If there’s no text yet, someone has to write it. This is often the biggest surprise that cheap offers never mention.
  • Languages and integrations. A second language, a booking system or a link to your accounting software is extra work, priced before the work starts, not after.

Prices exclude VAT. The invoice comes only after you’ve reviewed and approved the finished site.

Where “from €299” usually cuts corners

A low starting price isn’t bad in itself. Just ask what it buys. The things most often left out:

  • editing the copy, so the site goes live with a rough draft;
  • customisation, so the site looks like thousands of others on the same template;
  • SEO basics: titles, meta descriptions and speed;
  • extra pages, forms and languages, which arrive as separate invoices;
  • maintenance, so updates and security holes become your problem.

Do you need a monthly fee?

My websites have no monthly fee unless you want one. If you’d like someone to keep the site updated, make backups and watch security, there are maintenance plans from €19 a month. That costs less than restoring a hacked site later.
